Daybreak Productions partnering with WBBZ-TV for 90 minute presentation
Phil Arno, owner of WBBZ-TV, is proud to announce that the Installation Mass of Bishop Richard J. Malone will air commercial free on Channel 67 / Cable 5 Sunday night August 19that 8p.m. In making this announcement, Arno commented, “We are proud to be able to present this historic event in a primetime venue for viewers of all faiths. WBBZ is Western New York’s hometown station, and we look forward to helping Bishop Malone establish a relationship with our community.”
More than 1,000 people filled downtown Buffalo’s St. Joseph Cathedral Friday August 10th as Bishop Richard J. Malone, a New England native, was installed as the 14th bishop of Buffalo.
Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganò, the pope’s representative in the United States read the pope’s letter regarding Bishop Malone’s new assignment.
Bishop Edward U. Kmiec, now bishop emeritus of Buffalo, welcomed visiting cardinals, archbishops, bishops, religious, civic and ecumenical leaders and the lay faithful at the 2:30 p.m. installation. In addition to Archbishop Viganò, Cardinal Timothy Dolan, archbishop of New York was in attendance and provided remarks after Communion.
During his remarks, Bishop Malone spoke of the many warm welcoming folks he has met since the announcement of his appointment.
In an interview with WBBZ-TV to air before the Mass, Bishop Malone spoke of evangelization, an important focus of his ministry. The Bishop also offered a special blessing to WBBZ viewers, and all of Western New York.
Bob Koshinski, Vice President and General Manager of WBBZ-TV noted, “We have extended an invitation to Bishop Malone to appear on our station. It is our mission to create a dialogue in our community with representatives of all faiths.”
The commercial free presentation of the Installation Mass is presented as a gift to WNY from WBBZ and Chef’s Restaurant of Buffalo.
